ARTIST STATEMENT
Many years experience of drawing and painting focusing on Expressionism, Symbolism, and Outsider Art. Using my spiritual and emotional instincts, I paint what I feel more than what I see. My paintings are intuitive, speaking about what might be rather than what is. I do realize, however, that people relate to physical images that they know. Therefore, fairly representational images appear in my paintings on a regular basis.
When painting, I enjoy working in layers. I enjoy achieving diversity through the use of soft and hard edges, thick and thin paint, complementary colors, contrasts, glazing and dry brushing. At the end of the day, I am a colorist. That being said, I also enjoy creating black and white, mainly graphite drawings. I believe I am a better colorist by understanding black and white.
My mission is to share beauty, depth, meaning, and happiness with those who get to know my pieces of art.

• Published book, The Art of my Life, an autobiography. January 2020.
• Paintings featured on television on February 24 on CET in Cincinnati, OH at on Sunday February 25 on ThinkTV in Dayton, OH, 2018.
• Sole artist who created a 16 foot by 25 foot mural that was displayed at Moerlein Brewery during the holiday seasons of 2016 and 2017.
• Artist of the Month. Pendleton Art Center, Cincinnati, OH. February. 2017.
• Finalist "Best Local Artist" in City Beat magazine, 2016, 2017.
• Cincinnati Art Galleries' All-Star Art Invitational, July 11th - August 21st 2015. Painting accepted into the show and on display. Awarded Honorable Mention award. Juror was Dennis Harrington, Weston Art Gallery director. The painting sold.
