This is one of my new encaustic paintings (melted bees wax and pigments).

The "Away" theme recurs in my art.  A woman walks away in these pieces.  This one could almost be called "kind of away."  I'll explain some symbolisms in this painting.

1)  In early Renaissance paintings, a lemon symbolized unresolved conflict.  The woman in the painting is pausing to figure out if she will stay or go.

2)   In early Renaissance paintings, an orange symbolized Free Will.  She has a free will; she will use it.

3)  The vase with flowers symbolizes beauty and life.  The woman is beautiful and full of life.

4)  The woman in the painting is looking towards the bright window.  Her shoulders are facing the door.  She likes the positive energy of the bright window.  But, the door has equally bright windows and an interesting energy.  Will she stay where the window is or exit through the door?

5)  Purses symbolize identity and sense of self.  Will she share her true self with the artist by placing her purse on the table, or, will she carry it out the door?

6)  A knife is on the table.   Knives cut.  They also get inserted into one's back.  Hopefully, the knife will stay where it is.

Note: She did insert the knife into the artist's back.
